IHHN marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month with sessions and screening camp

October marks the official month for breast cancer awareness, and to show the importance, the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) held awareness sessions at its Korangi Campus, QF, NST & SMP and the Manawan campuses in Lahore along with illuminating its campus. Breast cancer affects approximately 2.1 million women worldwide every year. In Asia, Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer. One in nine women in Pakistan experience breast cancer at some stage of their lives.

Our Future is at Hand: Indus Marks Global Hand Hygiene Day with Week-Long Celebration

The Infection Control Department of the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) organized week-long hand hygiene awareness activities at the Korangi, Karachi and QF, NST & SMP, Lahore campuses for the healthcare workers and the public. Global Hand Hygiene Day is celebrated annually on October 15 to promote hand hygiene. This year’s theme, “Our Future is at Hand – Let’s Move Forward Together,” called for coordinated action toward universal hand hygiene.

Rehana Panjwani, a manager at the Indus Hospital Research Centre, has become the first Pakistani nurse to receive the prestigious Société Internationale d’Oncologie Pédiatrique/International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) Nursing Leadership Award for her services in the field of Pediatric Oncology Nursing. Indus marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Cancer is one of the major causes of death in children. While the survival rate for many childhood cancers is 80% in developed countries, it is less than 20% in Pakistan. Children comprise one-third of the 190 million people in the world’s sixth most populous country. Still, the lack of dedicated pediatric centers means there is a real danger of misdiagnosed children for severe ailments.
