A trans-humeral prosthesis (THP), also known as an above-the-elbow artificial limb, is an artificial upper limb that replaces an amputated limb above the elbow. It is utilized for individuals with amputations as a result of trauma, blood vessel disorder, diabetes, and gangrene, or congenital absences of the hand, forearm, and elbow above the elbow.

The THP consists of various components, such as elbow joints and wrist rotators, which allow the patient to perform a wide range of tasks. With proper fitting and therapy, a THP allows patients to resume their daily activities (e.g eating, dressing, writing) independently.
