A trans-tibial prosthesis (TTP), also called a below-knee artificial limb, replaces a leg missing below the knee as a result of amputation, traumatic injuries, neuropathic disorders, or birth defects.

The TTP is designed to replace the missing portion of the leg and restore functionality to the patient. The prosthesis typically consists of a socket, where the residual limb fits, a pylon or a metal rod that connects the socket to the foot, and a foot that serves as the platform for weight-bearing and walking. With proper fitting and therapy, a TTP allows patients to resume their daily activities (e.g. walking) independently.
