Pakistan is among thirty countries with high tuberculosis (TB) burden. Rapid and accurate drug susceptibility testing is essential for the treatment of multi- and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (M/XDR-TB). Improved understanding of the molecular basis of drug resistance can lead to the development of a plethora of genotypic-based methods for the rapid determination of susceptibility and resistance to anti-TB drugs.
