On October 26, 2022, the Psychosocial Department at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) Korangi Campus hosted an event for all staff in commemoration of World Mental Health Day. The event included a host of interactive activities in line with the international 2022 theme “Make mental health for all a global priority.”
The objective of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, discuss and create a better understanding of mental health problems, and guide healthcare professionals about ways to cater to their issues stemming from anxiety, stress, depression, and anger.
The Psychosocial department set up several stalls, each related to one of the following: Gratitude & satisfaction with life, Personality assessments, Self-care, Anger management, IQ Assessments, and Anxiety, Depression & Stress (ADS) management. The stalls conducted intervention-based therapeutic activities, which included verbal counseling sessions, art & craft projects, color psychology, and creative games.
The event included the following Key Messages:
· Mental health is the foundation of a happy life.
· Be gentle with yourself.
· Sometimes, it takes a breakdown to make a breakthrough.
· You are stronger than you think.
· Mental health is a journey, not a destination.
· You’re not alone in your struggle.
· It’s okay to not be okay.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Muhammad Shamvil Ashraf, Senior Consultant Pediatric Oncology & Executive Director of Medical Services at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN).
