The Pediatric Oncology Department & Psychosocial Department at the Indus Hospital, Korangi campus, organized a Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk to commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) 2023. The event aimed to spread awareness about childhood cancer and promote better survival rates for children with cancer. In addition, the walk helped highlight the crucial role caregivers, families, and healthcare professionals play in the fight against childhood cancer.
The hospital’s pediatric oncology department, including doctors, nurses, and supporting staff, took part in the walk alongside patients and their families. Dr. Zafar Zaidi, CEO of IHHN, and Dr. Ashar Alam, Medical Director, Indus Hospital – Korangi Campus, led the walk with Dr. Muhammad Rafie and Dr. Ahmer Hamid.
Dr. Hamid said at the event, “Fifteenth February is celebrated worldwide to bring awareness to the plight of children with cancer. It is held to express our support for children, doctors, and nurses who are part of the entire care process, especially for those children who are currently undergoing difficult cancer treatment. Today, we stand in solidarity with them, their families, and all the doctors and nurses included in providing treatment.”
