Indus Hospital Organises Celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

 The Indus Hospital (TIH)’s Physical Rehabilitation Center organized a walk to celebrate the International Day of Person with Disabilities (IDPD). The walk was organised at the Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus on November 29, 2017.

Dr Abdul Bari Khan, Chief Executive Officer, the Indus Health Network; Dr Amin Chinoy, Executive Director, Physical and Rehabilitation Directorate; Members of the Board of Directors; and patients participated in the walk. During the event, Dr Abdul Bari and other guests talked to the audience while some patients narrated their stories. Along with patients and their families, some celebrities also attended the event.

In 2015, the Indus Hospital established the Physical Rehabilitation Center with the support of International Committee of the Red Cross and Chal Foundation. The Center provides orthotic and prosthetic limbs to patients with disability. The facility has also been extended to the Bedian Road General Hospital, Lahore and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, Muzaffargarh. All three centers provide modern rehabilitation services to people with disabilities. These include prosthetics, orthotics, physiotherapy and mobility devices like wheelchairs and crutches.

In the year 2007, The Indus Hospital (TIH) started as a 150 bed, state-of-the-art, tertiary healthcare facility providing quality treatment free of cost to every patient. It has now evolved into a 300 bed hospital. The expenses at TIH are entirely funded through donations, Zakat and Sadaqat.
