Indus University of Health Sciences holds first Board of Governors meeting

The Indus University of Health Sciences’ (IUHS) Board of Governors held its inaugural meeting on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus to discuss various university-related business.

The meeting was attended by all members of the university’s board including Muhammad Siddique Sheikh, Chancellor Designate, Professor Syed Zafar Zaidi, Dean IUHS and Senior Executive Director Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), Sultan A. Chawla, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Shahid Firoz, Mohammad Younus Dagha, Tariq Siddiqui, and Professor Khaja H. Mujtaba Quadri.

The remaining board members — Professor Valerie Wass, Professor Janet Grant, and Professor Kamran Asdar Ali — joined via Zoom from London and Austin respectively. Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, CEO, IHHN, and Abdul Karim Paracha, Chairman, Board of Directors, IHHN joined the meeting as guests.

The meeting agenda comprised commencing the university board’s activities and to finalize the mission and vision of the university. The board members also discussed various university-related matters at length including the purpose of the university and how best it could be served.

Additionally, the meeting also discussed the three functional colleges and the remaining five, the education policy of the university, and the construction of the new hospital in Korangi which will house the Indus University of Health Sciences.
