I AM THE CHANGE award, a flagship initiative by Engro Foundation, pays tribute to local change-makers who work tirelessly towards improving the living standards of the poorest members of Pakistan. This year’s awards aimed to recognize and reward the incredible work done by doctors, healthcare workers and field staff, who have served the people of Pakistan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Indus Health Network proudly announces Mr. Asif Abul Hassan, Program Manager, Community Outreach, Global Health Directorate, Indus Health Network as the well-deserving recipient of the Engro Foundation’s ‘I AM THE CHANGE (IATC)’ Impact Award 2020 for his valued services during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
From the onset of the pandemic, the Indus Health Network (IHN) has been one of the leading organizations on the COVID-19 forefront, swiftly responding with a goal to help identify, treat and limit the spread of COVID-19 in the country. The public health arm of the Indus Health Network, Global Health Directorate mobilized its resources to amplify the efforts of IHN by reaching out to communities around various sites in Pakistan. Mr. Asif Abul Hassan and his team of community health workers (CHWs) worked relentlessly to counter the spread of misinformation about the coronavirus across the country. Utilizing reliable sources, his Training & Learning team designed awareness raising sessions and he ensured effective execution across communities surrounding country-wide IHN facilities.
Mr. Hassan also managed Pakistan’s first ever Covid-19 drive-through testing facility, a partnership of IHN and the Sindh Government. He responsibly managed day to day running of the site to ensure all SOPs were implemented and community members were provided a seamless testing experience.
Mr. Hassan is an admirable example of dedication and unselfishness, soldiering along his team to fight the COVID-19 battle day and night. Even now as the second wave of the pandemic has severely hit the country, Mr. Hassan and his team continues to actively serve various communities across the country.
It is an honor for Indus Health Network to have its people recognized and appreciated through such platforms. Hats off to all our doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and other employees working in the health field, for they are the true heroes
