The Indus Hospital’s Sheikh Saeed Memorial Campus organized two CME-certified lectures on January 2, 2020. The topic of the first lecture was ‘Non-Invasive Ventilation in Neonates’ by Dr. Junaid Muhib Khan. Dr. Khan is the Chief of Service, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Pediatrics, Al-Rahba Hospital, Johns Hopkins. While the second lecture was titled ‘Enteral Feeding of Preterm Infant’ by Professor Khalid N. Haque. Dr. Haque specializes in Neonatal Medicine and is a visiting Faculty Professor of Neonatal Medicine to the Children’s Hospital and Institute of Child Health, Lahore.
The objective of these lectures were to identify low cost solutions to reduce neonatal mortality rate in low and middle income countries like Pakistan. They emphasized the importance and consequences of poor feeding practices and insufficient ventilation management strategies in respect with neonatal mortality. 50 nursing staff, paediatric residents, neonatology fellows, and neonatologist attended the lectures.
