A woman is the full circle, within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.
To acknowledge and honor the women of Indus, International Women’s Day celebrations were held on Monday, March 9, 2020 by the Indus Health Network. Be it the housekeeping staff, lab assistants and technicians, nurses, doctors, or the backend support staff, all these amazing women are the driving force of The Indus Hospital. Dr. Farah Bari, Deputy General Manager, Sheikh Saeed Memorial Hospital gave the welcome speech. The keynote speakers at the event were Ms. Fahmida Ghani, Head Nurse, Pediatrics, The Indus Hospital; Ms. Anila Sheikh, Field Supervisor, HIV Clinic, Global Health Directorate, Indus Health Network; Ms. Neha Mankani – Senior Manager, Maternal Health, Global Health Directorate, Indus Health Network; and Dr. Naseem Salahuddin, Head – Infectious Disease Control Department and Rabies Free Pakistan Program. These women shared their inspiring journeys with the audience.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, the former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan appreciated the efforts of the Indus Hospital and especially the women of Indus. Speaking at the occasion, she said, “The Indus Hospital needs a tribute on how it’s being managed; an exemplary model of healthcare and training without any emphasis on money.” She was provided A Guest of Honor Certificate by Dr. Farah Bari.
When women support each other, incredible things happen. In the light of this, The Indus Hospital has launched a Women’s Ambassadorship Group, ‘i-Indus’ at this event. The purpose of the group is to provide the platform to Pakistani women to galvanize their energies and influence to garner support for the Indus Hospital. These female ambassadors will be creating awareness about the initiatives of TIH and raise funds for ensuring provision of free and quality healthcare through Indus Health Network facilities across Pakistan.
Ms. Sadia Rashid, Chancellor of Hamdard University and the daughter of the late Hakim Muhammad Saeed presented the i-Indus Ambassador Certificate to Ms. Ruby Suleman and Ms. Reshma Tabbani to acknowledge their long-standing, valuable contributions to the cause of the Indus Hospital.
