Government of Sindh under the public-private partnership mandate commissioned the Regional Blood Center (RBC) at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro with six associated Hospital-based Blood Banks (HBB) in September 2018 to the Indus Hospital (TIH). Out of the six, three blood banks have been functional in Jamshoro, Hyderabad and Badin. Recently the fourth Blood Bank at Civil Hospital in Thatta, a 188-bed hospital with an annual estimated loads of more than 6,000 bags per year, was operationalised by TIH. With this the RBC, Jamshoro has become the only Center across Pakistan with four operational blood banks in a short period of one year.
The RBC, Jamshoro and its associated Blood Banks also aims at mobilizing the public towards 100% voluntary blood donations. The RBC and the associated Blood Banks works on The International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) 128 standards with a traceability through bar code. FDA approved instruments are used for screening on American Association of Blood Bank (AABB) standards before it is administered to a patient.
Indus Health Network is grateful to Government of Sindh for putting their trust and confidence by giving the management of RBC, Jamshoro and its associated hospital-based blood banks to the Indus Hospital.
